David's Prayer

David just found out that his dynasty would be secure forever and this is part of his prayer. I love this because it is my heart to, for all the good things God has done for me. (Ephesians 1.3-14; 2 Peter 1.3-4; and more!)

1 Chronicles 17.17a-20
"You speak as though I were someone very great, O Lord God! What more can I say to you about the way you have honored me? You know what your servant is really like. For the sake of your servant, O Lord, and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known. O Lord, there is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you!"

Death works Life.

This was part of my devotion this a.m. Very sobering and challenging to my heart. Dying to our self allows Christ to work in us to bring Life to others.
"Will you choose the path of death that others may have life? Will you choose to 'fill up the afflictions of Christ for His Bride's sake'? But what does it mean? It means living, weeping, suffering, loving with infinite patience, infinite tenderness, unwearying love for every member of the Body of Christ. It means the whole being bound up, not in your own progress, but in the progress of the Body of Christ. It means sinking all the personal element into the service of God, wanting neither credit, nor notice, nor recognition. It means an utter dropping of yourself, and a handing over of yourself to God to be poured out for His Body's sake, the Church." - H.F.W. None But The Hungry Heart
2 Corinthians 4.12 Death working in me works Life in you.

Life Here

Well here we are in Asia-Pacific and have been here for just over three months now. Every day we become little more used to living here, but there is still so much more for us to learn about the culture and language to really feel 'at home'. The biggest struggle we have faced is just getting to know people and feel like friends. When you don't speak the same language for the most part and what you do speak is just 'small talk', it is difficult to build deeper relationships. Having Jensen has been such a huge blessing to us in helping to meet people and begin to make friends. Everyone loves him because he is so chubby and white! He loves being here too and loves the people. Of course it is hard not to love people who give you endless snacks and let you do pretty much anything you want. He loves to go on walks around the neighborhood and knows where the two houses we visit most are. I guess he knows he will get cookies if he goes there.
Please continue to pray for us as we are trying to learn the culture and language. It is challenge for sure and we want to persevere even when it is very uncomfortable and seemingly impossible.

Colossians 1.21-23
And you who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in hi body of flesh by his death in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
